Overview

The Wilderness Hotel was originally established in 1928.  With 150 rooms and large gardens, it takes up a significant area of the main section of Wilderness.  The hotel offers family friendly and reasonably priced accommodation.

Wilderness Hotel Entrance

Location

The hotel is very centrally located, right in the heart of the main town area of Wilderness.  As such it is only a minute or two’s walk from most of the central restaurants, and less than ten minutes walk from the beach.

Given the size of the hotel, the views will vary depending on the location of your room.  The front of the hotel overlooks Wilderness Green and the lagoon.

Some rooms are on the first floor, and some are quite a long walk from the main entrance and reception area.  If you’d like a room with easy accessibility, it would be advisable to speak to the hotel about the most appropriate rooms before booking.

Wilderness Hotel Rooms

Accommodation Options

The Wilderness Hotel has 150 rooms, with a mix of standard, classic, luxury and deluxe options.  Most rooms have a king size bed, but there are also twin beds available in some standard and classic rooms.  There are a number of different types of family rooms – these have either king and twin beds, 2 double beds or 4 single beds.

There is a luxury family suite which has a kitchenette including an oven and hob.  This is the only room with self-catering facilities – it also has a small enclosed courtyard.  All deluxe rooms have a minibar fridge – for other rooms a fridge can be supplied at a small additional cost.

Most standard, deluxe and classic rooms have a walk-in shower in the bathroom (except a couple of the family rooms which have a shower over a bath).  The luxury family suite has one bathroom with a spa bath and walk-in shower, and another with walk-in shower.

All rooms have air-conditioning units (including heating) and selected satellite TV channels.  Some rooms have a small balcony.

If you’d prefer to eat out, the excellent selection of restaurants in the central area of Wilderness are all within just a couple of minutes walk away.  You can also use the braais (BBQs) at the hotel for a small additional cost.
