Overview

Boardwalk Lodge has a mix of rooms, studios and self catering timber chalets, all situated just up the steep hill that sits behind the main area of Wilderness.

Opened in 1999, the architecture of the units blend in with the beautiful natural surroundings as well as giving amazing views. All of the Boardwalk Lodge accommodation options are very reasonably priced.

Location

The chalets of Boardwalk Lodge are visible from most of the main part of Wilderness, thanks to their location high on the hillside. The different chalets are spaced well apart, and hence cover quite a large area of the hillside. The view is over central Wilderness, the lagoon and the sea.

Despite being up a steep hill, the main area of Wilderness is still close by. From the reception area (close to the individual rooms and studios) it is just over a 5 minute walk to the main restaurants and under a 15 minute walk to the beach (or a couple of minutes drive). Allow an extra few minutes for the walk back up the hill.

Some of the self-catering chalets are a fairly significant walk from the reception, and also from the car park. All units have some steps to get to, with 150 steps to get to the furthest chalet. Once you are there, the view is worth it!

The residents of the other studios and rooms have access to use the shared Weber braai situated next to the pool (which is close to all of the rooms and studios).

The rooms and studios all have an en-suite bathroom which includes a separate bath and shower (except for the standard room which just has a shower). They also all have a private balcony with stunning views and a heating/air-conditioning unit. There is a maximum of 30 steps to reach all of these units.

All wooden chalets are styled in a comfortable contemporary fashion. They all have a lounge with a fully equipped kitchen and a large balcony with a gas braai.  The balconies have chairs and a table and sun loungers.  All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a bath and separate shower.

There are 2 very private one bedroom chalets, highest on the slopes (140-150 steps) with amazing views, each with a double bed. They both have a gas fire in the lounge.

The 3 standard two bedroom chalets are at varying heights (8, 50 or 130 steps) and each have lounge areas on 2 levels. They have a mix of double and twin bedrooms (each chalet is different), and also have sleeper couches hence accommodate up to 6 people. They also have a gas fire in the lounge.

The 2 luxury two bedroom chalets are similar to the standard ones, also sleeping 4-6, but have more luxurious decor. There is no gas fire, but there are heaters and extra blankets in the bedrooms. They are 10 and 30 steps up the hillside.
