Overview
Wilderness Manor is a 4 room guest house that overlooks the beautiful Wilderness lagoon. Recently refurbished, it offers very spacious accommodation in a style that is a both traditional yet modern. Owners Gerald and JD have been at the guest house for 10 years. Wilderness Manor is extremely reasonably priced given the quality of the accommodation and its location on the lagoon.
Location
The location overlooking the lagoon gives staying at Wilderness Manor a feeling of serenity as if you are far removed from “normal” day to day life. Yet it is still only a beautiful (and flat) 15 minute walk or a 2 minute drive to the central area of Wilderness, with its large selection of restaurants and amenities. The beach is around 20 minutes walk away.
Three of the four rooms are upstairs with views over the lagoon. The other room is on the ground floor at the back of the property, with it’s own private garden (no lagoon view).
Accommodation Options
All four rooms are very spacious with a large king size bed and a sofa or additional seating. In 2 of the rooms, the bed can be separated into twins, whereas the other 2 rooms have a 4 poster bed. There is a fridge (including minibar), heater, fan, safe and a TV with selected satellite channels in all rooms. In addition, two of the lagoon facing rooms have their own private balcony.
Bathrooms in all 4 rooms are huge, each with twin basins, a heated towel rail, a large bath AND a large walk-in shower.
Meals
A continental buffet and English breakfast is available each morning in the breakfast room (included in the room rate).
If fine dining in the evening appeals to you, then the renowned Serendipity restaurant is just 250 metres away (booking essential). Alternatively, the excellent selection of restaurants and cafes in central Wilderness is only a 2 minute drive or 15 minute walk away.
Facilities
Wilderness Manor has a shared lounge and reading room, furnished in colonial style and complete with chess boards.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the guest house. A laundry service is available upon request.
House Rules
Check in time is generally between 2pm and 6pm, although other arrival times can be arranged on request. Check out is by 10.30am on the day of departure.
Wilderness Manor is not suitable for children under 12 or pets. A minimum stay or 2 or 3 nights applies in high season and over the long Easter weekend.
Getting There
Take the main Wilderness turn off the N2, next to the Caltex garage. Follow the road round to the right through the heart of Wilderness village, then round to the left past the Wilderness Hotel. Next, turn right at the circle (roundabout) – you are now on Waterside Road. Wilderness Manor is approximately 1 kilometre (just over half a mile) along the road, on the left.
Off street parking is available in front of the guest house.
Guest Feedback
Recent reviews for Wilderness Manor focus on how amazing hosts Gerald and JD are. It is also frequently mentioned that the attention to detail is meticulous, the breakfast is incredible and that the rooms are large and spotlessly clean. It is hard to find a single negative point in recent reviews of the Manor.
